John Bigerstaff, Chief Executive Officer

John is a software professional with over thirty years’ experience of real time computing, project management and developing technologies. A Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, John has played a major role in support of standards bodies, particularly within the Oil & Gas industry. He has also worked in the Automotive sector and developed a good understanding of dealer management systems integration in the UK and Europe. John especially enjoys the challenges new projects bring and believes that gaining a deep understanding of customer requirements is essential to delivering the best solution. When not pursuing his hobby of supporting the local football team, John puts his project management skills to good use by building and renovating houses.

Ian France, Technical Director

Ian is responsible for the technical management, infrastructure and strategic direction of ETL Solutions’ products. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Bangor University, a BSc in Computer Science from York University, and an MEng in Electronic Engineering also from Bangor University. With a strong engineering background and over twenty years’ professional software development experience, Ian emphasizes correctness and robustness in the products he is responsible for.  Overseeing our software aside, Ian finds nothing more invigorating than trekking over the mountains of Snowdonia, no matter what the Welsh weather decides to throw at him.

Karl Glenn, Business Development Director

A sales and marketing professional with twenty years’ experience in the IT industry, Karl is one of the founding Directors of ETL Solutions. He leads the company’s sales and marketing and is also responsible for partnerships and alliances, building successful relationships with companies such as JP Morgan, Shell, Procter & Gamble, BNP Paribas, Schlumberger and RBS. Karl also owns and manages the Data Migration/Integration & ETL professional group on LinkedIn, which has nearly 3,500 members. Karl can be found busy networking beyond work as a member of the local football team, followed by more networking over a pint of real ale.

Dafydd Davies, Software Development Manager

Dafydd has over ten years’ experience in software development. He joined Nokia on their graduate entry scheme after obtaining an MSc in Object Oriented Software Development. As a founding member of ETL Solutions, his focus has been Java development and introducing quality software development processes. A Prince2 qualified project manager at the Practitioner level, Dafydd keeps our software development on track and ensures that we create the best data solutions for our customers. In his spare time he takes a break from the boundaries of process management with travel, live music and walking.

Zhipeng Chang, Developer

Zhipeng is an experienced Java developer. He obtained an MSc degree in Computer Science before applying his expertise to the data integration industry. Zhipeng is an enthusiastic developer, building high quality software and test suites. He also has a particular interest in the computer science specialities of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Translation. When not buried deep in code, Zhipeng enjoys sports, gardening and reading.

Adrian Davies, Lead Consultant

Adrian has a PhD in Numerical Analysis from Cardiff University. He has been with ETL Solutions since the company was formed in 2002, working on data integration projects for large Blue Chip companies in the Finance, Oil & Gas and Automotive sectors. Adrian has over eighteen years’ professional experience working in IT, including at Sony, BT and the National Library of Wales. Outside work, most of Adrian’s time is spent poolside while his children compete in swimming galas at local, regional and national level.

Richard Cook, Consultant

With ETL Solutions since its inception, Richard has spent the last decade focusing solely on data integration.  He enjoys applying his data management experience in technical support and consultancy roles at the company.  Richard graduated from Keele University with joint honours in Maths and Computer Science and worked in a range of industries, solving problems with everything from an oscilloscope to his intuition.  The photo to the left accurately depicts Richard’s life of domestic bliss, but he is occasionally allowed out to run the coastal paths of Pembrokeshire with his two Jack Russells doing their best to trip him up.

Chris Griffin, Consultant

Chris brings more than a decade of project planning, management and delivery experience to ETL Solutions, working with clients on data management and integration projects across the USA and Europe. Chris uses his specialist knowledge to solve complex data integration challenges, and his experience includes the Finance, Oil & Gas, Aerospace, Automotive and Supply Chain sectors. Before joining ETL Solutions, Chris worked in Automotive production plants across Europe, managing vehicle systems configuration and improving plant efficiency. Having addressed another complex challenge in knocking down and rebuilding his house on the side of a mountain, Chris looks forward to relaxing on the porch as the sun goes down. Although he still needs to build the porch.

Mark Koczwara, Consultant

After graduating from UMIST with a degree in Information Systems Management, Mark worked in Japan for seven years as part of the JET programme and with Berlitz. During this time, he travelled extensively throughout Asia and spent six months living in the Philippines. Mark has ten years’ experience as both a freelancer and a consultant, working on a variety of software development projects ranging from content management to learning systems. Mark is currently studying Artificial Intelligence as part of Stanford University’s remote learning programme.

Jane Steen, Marketing Manager

Jane has over fifteen years’ experience in the marketing industry. She worked with big brands such as Kellogg’s and Dairy Crest, before applying her expertise to the computer software industry. Jane is a specialist in building engaging brands and driving awareness through social media. She also has a particular interest in market research. Having moved to the seaside in 2006, Jane finds that the beauty of the coast is the ideal antidote to a deluge of keywords, blog posts and tweets.

Ullrich Cox, Technical Author

Ullrich has provided technical documentation to support applications for over twenty years, as well as helping organisations with their training strategies and delivery. Working alongside the National Health Service, the leisure industry and the software sector has given Ulrich deep experience of data integration projects. He is particularly interested in helping the new user enjoy their learning journey while getting the maximum benefit from our products. Developing your skills takes time and patience, which is not a problem for a long distance triathlete like Ullrich, whose passion is Ironman Triathlon.
