Geoscience IT Consulting Vacancy

ETL are currently seeking an IT/data analyst/consultant with a Geoscience background. The candidate should have between 1 and 3 years experience to join their client consulting team, but would also consider a graduate. ETL produce an integration product that is being used by major oil companies, and is embedded in Schlumberger’s ProSource TM and OpenSpitit’s middleware. The successful client would play a lead technical role in ETL’s Geoscience activities which include working on customer projects, develop activities specific to Geoscience sector, and developing Geoscience business opportunties. The person would be based in North Wales working from Blaenau Ffestiniog of or Bangor. Working on site with partners of customers in Europe or US or would be required from time to time.

Responsibilities:

  • Consulting work for ETL’s Geoscience customers
  • Lead development work which is Geoscience sector specific
  • Input into product collateral, sales tools and marketing
  • Assisting with Geoscience Business opportunities

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Qualifications should include a Honours degree either in software IT or Geoscience
  • Knowledge of Geoscience data models such as OpenWorks, GeoFrame, Finder and PPDM
  • Java programming skills are required and ideally knowledge of J2EE architectures
  • Ideally with strong skills in databases (Oracle, DB2 or SQL), XML, operating systems (Windows, UNIX, Linux)
  • Expertise in the middleware and/or data integration market/tools preferred
  • Strong speaking, writing, presentation and communications skills a must
  • Team player in a highly demanding environment
  • Participation is required in proof-of-concepts for customers, trade shows, seminars and other events, and working with channel partners
  • Travel is required.
