Flat File

If the user needs to use flat files as a source or target to a project, TM provides a straight forward wizard that can be used to define a model based on a flat file. To access the flat file wizard the user must navigate to the File | Import Model | Flat File menu option. After selecting this menu option the user will be presented with the flat file dialog box. This allows the user to add a new, edit or remove elements from the model. An element represents a single flat file, so using this approach TM allows models to be built using multiple flat files.

When the user selects the new button on the flat file dialog window the flat file wizard will be launched. This wizard guides the user through the various steps needed to create a new flat file and gives the user a number of options to choose from. For example the wizard can be used to import fixed length flat files or files that are delimited by Tab, Semicolon, Comma, Space, Pipe or any custom character.
