The role

You will be an active member of our support team, assisting with our data integration services for clients worldwide. As a support consultant you’ll solve technical and application problems, liaising with customers who raise issues and communicating with them by telephone and email to ensure their queries are analysed and resolved.

The ability to solve issues by creating and carrying out SQL queries is crucial. Also important is the ability to follow a workflow, including scripts, through to the identification of the issue.

You’ll also have the opportunity to assist with the implementation of new projects. This might range from software development tasks in Java to testing and debugging.

We have a relaxed work environment with an emphasis on collaboration. You will be working closely with the support manager, project consultants and the development team.

Job requirements

The role requires good technical and communication skills. As well as working as part of a team, you will need the ability to work on your own to trace and resolve issues.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases
  • The ability to follow programming languages when tracing issues
  • Self-motivation and the ability to use your initiative to solve a problem
  • Good communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Java
  • Ability to follow Unix scripts
  • Ability to work on the Linux command line
  • Knowledge of CI/build tools such as Jenkins and Maven.

Salary

£20,000-£30,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits.

We then plan to trial a hybrid office and home working system.
