The Challenge

Polaris is one of the world’s largest powersports vehicle companies. Based in the US state of Minnesota, the company manufactures off road vehicles, snowmobiles and motorcycles. Faced with a diverse range of data from distributors and dealerships, Polaris required an on-going delivery of fit-for-purpose data, aggregated into a single, reliable and secure feed.

Polaris selected ETL Solutions 18 months ago to help integrate their Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) dealership network.

The Solution

ETL Solutions has designed a bespoke version of its DataHub platform to integrate Polaris’s inventory and sales data. The data is collected daily from dealers and distributors via direct database access or file feed, depending on the data source. DataHub then cleans and validates the data, guided by the bespoke processing rules created for Polaris by ETL Solutions’ consultants. The overall solution is then managed and supported by ETL Solutions with minimal involvement from Polaris or their dealer network.

Polaris accesses the collected data from Amazon Redshift, a cloud-based database hosted by Amazon Web Services. Amazon’s S3 file storage service is used to transfer data from DataHub to Redshift. This enables Polaris to leverage Amazon’s fast, scalable cloud storage. To futureproof the system, DataHub can upload and process even petabytes of data via Redshift.

Dealership data has now been successfully integrated into markets including France, Mexico, Russia and the Middle East.
